Hip Hop culture has never been just about the music. It's a lifestyle, attitude and aspiration. Striving to triumph through skill and individualism are key components. So when Nike approached us to collaborate for the Air Force 1, 25th Anniversary celebration, it was easy to see the synergy.
The culture and music is a staple within B-Ball, likewise the B-Ball competitiveness, energy and swagger has found itself central to much of hip hop culture. It's about the energy of the street that feeds into the Air Force 1 mentality.
On this USB key is a time capsule that celebrates 25 years of some of the UK's most groundbreaking artists. They had a profound impact on the musical landscape and the lives and times of the listeners. Their significance makes them fitting candidates for the soundtrack of the 25th year celebration.
This compilation is not impartial, but it is Deal Real. We tried to make it widely representative and even managed to grab a few exclusives. Many songs should have made it, but didn't so what you have is great reference point. All we ask is that you keep digging.
