MR HUDSON |
It takes someone with foresight and imagination to pull-off the cross-pollination of hip hop with classic song writing, but in doing so Mr Hudson has hit upon a winning formula.

Equally influenced by the lyrics of Chet Baker and Cole Porter, the production skills of Jay Dee and The Roots, and the energy of uk grime and hip hop, Mr Hudson is a unique proposition.
A self-confessed outsider, this mixing of styles comes easy to an artist who has gone from playing drums in a band at the age of 14 to becoming the undefeated Jump Off Producer Champion in 2005.
Bored of guitar music and seeking a new sound, inspiration came in the form of Itch FM and the burgeoning UK hip hop scene sweeping across London. With no aspirations to become a rapper, Mr Hudson combined his song-writing talents with newfound production skills and discovered that it worked. And more importantly, other people liked it. Championed by the likes of Sway and 1Xtra DJ Semtex, who by their own admission, were surprised to find themselves firm fans of the trilby-doffing newcomer, Mr Hudson's hybrid sound is attracting interest from all corners of the music industry. A&Rs are getting hot under the collar, interesting collaborations are in the pipeline, and hip hop mecca Deal Real are set to release a series of limited singles and mixtapes over the next few months. Suffice to say that big things are widely predicted.
With that in mind, it would be advisable to check out his live set as soon as possible. Together with his band The Library, who bring bass, steel pans, electric drums, percussion and a genius piano player into the equation, Mr Hudson is going to be one of the 'must-see' artists of the summer.

Tha 4orce’s career has embodied hip hop culture from the very beginning. He started his career with Ronin, hip hop crew of the late 1980’s where he saw national success with their single ’Who Got The Last Laugh’. His career progressed from a label deal with Virgin back to a more successful time with Ronin which stretched to the US when Tha 4orce tore up a performance with Boogie Down Productions in New York and garnered much love from the US music industry. Tha 4orce progressed into music production and engineering. His various remix and production credits include: Ms Dynamite, Reef, Oleta Adams, Phoebe One, Foxy Brown Feat Blackstreet, LL Cool J, Common, Gravediggers, Busta Rhymes and Alkaholiks. Steve has also completed many album projects with artists such as; Izzi Dunn, Noel McKoy, Rubic, Nash and Poynt Blak, as well as his own solo albums. In 2000, the launch of Sacha Baron Cohen’s controversial character, Ali G, landed 4orce a role on the Friday night show ’Da Ali G Show’ on Channel4. He was the fast-talking DJ, whose flawless performance on the decks led people asking ’Who’s the 4orce’?! The next phase of Tha 4orce’s career took the form of the 6 piece band Nash, signed to GoBeat/Polydor which had huge success in Japan and Australia.
Fast forward to 2006 and Steve ’Tha 4orce’ Ellington has become a DJ on Itch FM, presenter on MTV and voice-over for Trouble (TV) and Kiss FM, recently providing the beats to the recent K-Swiss advert. He is once again focused on his own material and label Mind Tha Gap recordings.
